Bio
Daniel Dzonu Clarke, born in 1989 in London, UK, is a talented artist whose work is a fusion of British and Ghanaian influences. He honed his artistic skills through a diverse educational journey, which included a BA (Hons) in Illustration from the University of the Arts London’s Camberwell College of Art, an FDA in Illustration and Design, and BTEC Graphic Design at Ealing and West London College. Daniel’s artistic journey took him even further afield when he participated in a residency at the Kokrobitey Institute in Ghana.
Daniel Clarke’s art has graced the walls of prestigious galleries worldwide. Notable exhibitions include “A broken hand is not a broken heart” at the Nina Sagt Gallery in Dusseldorf, “Gameshow” at Raum Vollreinigung in Berlin, and “Urgent Imagination” at the Western Front Gallery in Vancouver. His work often carries thought-provoking messages, such as his paintings commissioned by Assemble for their Vancouver exhibition.
Daniel’s dedication to the art world extends to his own publications. In 2020, he self-published a book of paintings inspired by his train journey from Berlin to Rome during the early days of the Covid-19 lockdown. Additionally, in 2012, he authored “Heygate Memories,” a book of short stories and illustrations that spotlighted the positive aspects of the Heygate Estate in Elephant and Castle, London, challenging media portrayals of its destruction.
Over the years, Daniel Clarke’s illustrations have graced the pages of renowned publications, including The New Yorker, Port Magazine, The New York Times, and Wallpaper Magazine. His work has also been featured on websites like Penguin, Wrap Magazine, and the V&A Museum. With a career spanning diverse mediums and an unwavering commitment to his craft, Daniel Dzonu Clarke continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of art.
