“I like to find beauty in the least expected corners. A ray of sunshine and a piece of furniture with the right color can give moments full of hope.” Photographer Jaime Oriz lives with the availability to see the beautiful fleeting moments that the universe provides and captures them to share with the world. This small moment is part of an ongoing series that transforms the ordinary into the ethereal. The playful attention to color and light make these shots perfect as framed photography celebrating the mundane with the lens of delicate beauty.

Description

Jaime Oriz | Zaragoza

Jaime Oriz is a photographer and journalist. He entered the sector starting out as a producer and editor in Aragon Television (Aragón en Abierto and Buenos Días) and, later, as culture editor of the newspaper 20 Minutos. After being closely linked to the world of concert photography, in 2015 he opted to devote himself fully to photography. He is characterized by being a photographer of the everyday theme – with a certain obsessive tendency for composition and chromatic play. His style is increasingly minimalist, and more disconnected from the reality.

His first exhibition was Live in Zaragoza (2014), at the Centro Cívico Delicias, a collection of photographs of concerts in Zaragoza. The second was Una de seis (2016), at the Cai Joaquín Roncal exhibition hall. It was followed by Retuerta (2018, Las Armas), with a series of images that sought to recreate the sensations of the book of the same name by author Jorge Omeñaca. The last one was “Diario en una sala de espera” (Diary in a waiting room), in which he portrayed the loneliness of hospitals from his personal point of view.
