Looking out over the Grotto Pond in the Chatsworth Estate, Derbyshire. The fading light of spring day stays lit in the sun-soaked trees- retaining an almost glowing vibrancy. The soft pastel and oil collage constructs layers mimicking the complex planes of the natural view. A serene addition to the friendly feeling of natural textures, this piece enhances that sense of tranquility and simple earthy elegance of rustic or kinfolk style. Great for the dwelling spaces of a home, let this piece set the scene for conversation and interest.

Description

Oli Mumby | United Kingdom

Oli Mumby is a UK based contemporary artist specializing in landscapes and representations/interpretations of the natural world.  His work is ‘about’ rather than ‘of’ the natural landscape, each piece begins with an idea stimulated by a drawing or photograph. The organic process develops from observation to the final semi-abstract aesthetic of his compositions. Oli’s connection to the captivating scenes of Derbyshire and the Peaks runs deep enough to attract him away from his London-based advertising job to his current countryside residence. Oli enjoys the direct physicality of pastels; using distinctive colors to build layers often in collage using pastels worked into paper.
