The penetrating amber gaze from this majestic creature takes the beholder’s breath away. This photograph captures not only the essence of the animal, but also its physical details – the dramatic lighting and the pitch dar background makes this frame all the more theatrical.

After 20 years of work, the population of the Iberian lynx has increased tenfold from a critically endangered species (with less than 100 individuals) to an endangered species (in 2020 with 1,111 lynx). WWF continues to work to triple the population and save the lynx from the risk of extinction.

Pedro Jarque | España

Pedro Jarque Krebs is an award winning photographer born in Lima, Peru. He graduated from the Sorbonne University in Paris with a degree in Philosophy of Sciences. In 1983 he won the first prize of the Municipality of Lima for black and white photography. Since that time, Jarque Krebs has received more than 200 prizes and recognitions internationally. Among these are the Sony World Photography Awards five times winner (2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022), the Siena Creative Awards (Italy) two times winner (2020, 2021),  Bird Photographer of the year 2018 overall winner (UK), Oasis Photo Contest (Italy) 1st Prize in 2017, Top 10 Photographers of the world at Sente Antu award in China in 2017. He was nominated “Photographer of the month” by National Geographic France on October 2016. In 2019 the prestigious German publishing house teNeues has published a book of his work entitled “Fragile”, which received several international awards, among them the 1st prize of the International Photography Awards.
