This terracotta piece in inspired by the funerary art of western Mexico. As the title explains, the unique sculpture recreates a sorrowful woman her body shrunken by the weight of grief but her expression eternalized perhaps as a way of acknowledging the necessity and delicate process of mourning. Her distorted proportions speak to the expressive narrative rather than a realistic reinterpretation, a reflection of the intimate vulnerable moments of life.

Decor Tips: The unmistakable rusty glow of terracotta can harmonize with the understated palettes of modern and contemporary interiors or else fit the earthy atmosphere in kinfolk and rustic spaces. Decorating with sculpture can draw attention and delight to the overlooked spaces of a home or yard bringing elegance to a living room, porch, or foyer.
