This surreal image imagines the exotic peacock strutting on a retro-style checkered linoleum floor. Its aesthetic appeal is immediate with the bright shades of blue and emerald winking from the peacock’s tail. The details and intricacy of the delicate gait of the bird is offset by a bold and kitschy background. The juxtaposition results in an unusual scene.   The dappled sunlight leaks onto the floor in intriguing spots of brightness, like clouds sweeping through a sky. The elegance of the peacock is offset by the funky floor and diagonal perspective elongating the space to add to the oddity. But rather than flaunt their exotic personality, we witness the peacock as if completely unaware walking away from the viewer towards an unknown destination. Without a glimpse of its face, we are left to wonder about its story and purpose. The grainy texture adds to the surreal nature as it is ambiguous whether a painting or artist photography

As framed wall art this piece can add a playful whimsy to your home’s interior design. It’s bright colours and dreamlike scene draw a perplexed eye and leave us wondering in admiration.

Description

Jorge Omenaca | Madrid

Jorge Omeñaca is originally from Zaragoza, but currently lives in Madrid. He has lived in different parts of the world such as Rome, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. He is a photographer and has an academic background in drawing and painting. This relationship between both disciplines is clearly reflected in the style of his photography, where the use of color and close framing take special relevance.

He has a preference for photographing elements of nature, which he edits with a markedly “pictorial” look, creating images that often straddle the line between photography and painting, a style very conducive to decorative environments. Apart from artistic photography for interior decoration, Jorge also works on documentary and narrative photography projects.
