This original portrait captures the essence of a young woman. The mix of pastel pencil and sticks as well as charcoal is Salem’s playful approach to stay connected to the artwork.  The overall composition celebrates the light that glows from the rich complexion and creates a striking pose in sepia and neutral tones. The composition and texture of this scene make this original piece perfect for contemporary and eclectic spaces as a perspective on the human habitat and our many adventures. Great for the dwelling spaces of a home, let this piece set the scene for conversation and interest.

Description

Sami Salem | Egypt

Salem’s journey has been vast and varied from graduating in Alexandria (Egypt) for Political and Economic Sciences in 1984, to working at embassies in London, Santiago de Chile, New Delhi, Montevideo and Bogota. His first attempts with pastel were in 1987 after attending a weekend workshop with British artist Colin Bradley in Broadstairs, Kent. This workshop inspired him to further develop his artistic talent beginning to practice other techniques such as acrylics. Most of his artwork is still in the pastel medium creating stunning original portraits and drawings.
