The mesmerizing composition of this original painting seems to give form to concepts of peace and flow. Piercing blue brushstrokes flash and wind their way over the layers of pastel squiggles and dashes. The movement of the overall piece intrigues with its sense of suspension and gravity, with colors standing out as if glowing beneath or above a glittering surface.

Decor tips: Abstract works bring a fresh sense of energy and movement to a modern or contemporary space inviting a playfulness and daring against a muted palette. Alternatively, let the artful texture match the rugged architecture of an industrial interior. A great piece to draw the eye in a living room bringing a pop of energy and color to the atmosphere.

Description

Cristina De Castro | Colombia

The core of artist Cristina Di Castro’s work is characterized by the central theme of the osmosis of what surrounds us. She retains an interest in streams of knowledge itself such as the phenomenon of perception, scientific concepts of time and space, and theories that modify and question our surroundings, identities, and the spiritual aspects of humanity. Born in Bogota, Columbia, she first studied Fine Art at the Departmental Institute of Fine Arts in the city of Cali. To this day she continues to nurture her education continuously taking refresher courses on modern and contemporary art in different institutions such as the Banco de la Republica, Misol foundation for the arts; with renowned art critics and curators such as Alvaro Medina, Carlos Quintero and Nestor Martinez, drawing courses with the artist Natalia Castañeda and Blanca Moreno. In her compositions these thematic threads of knowledge are interwoven with a sensitivity to her own momentous story. Both materials and meanings are treated as transient, more fluid, blurred, and expressing the impossibility of feeling identified with the current reality- seeking new stages of realization. She has exhibited solo and as a contributor to group shows in Columbia as well as internationally in the United States, Mexico, Spain, and Austria. Her works are also part of private collections worldwide.
